Biffy Clyro have released a new song, Balance, Not Symmetry.
Lifted from the soundtrack to their forthcoming film project of the same name, the track opens with punchy blasts of percussion before switching to quiet-loud dynamics and gradually building though stabbing guitar lines to a fuzzy, juddering climax.
The film, meanwhile, was directed by Jamie Adams and features 17 original songs from the Scottish trio, with the full soundtrack set to arrive tomorrow, May 17. It'll be released in the UK on July 26 following its premiere at the Edinburgh film festival in June. Vocalist Simon Neil said:
"On meeting Jamie, we realised early on that we'd both had to deal with grief at a relatively young age and so it was interesting to talk about how we’d both dealt with it and the effect it had on us.
"This is the main crux of the film, delving into the lonely world of grief and loss and coming out the other side."
'Balance, Not Symmetry' will mark the first full LP release from the band since 2018's 'MTV Unplugged'. The band also recently confirmed they're working on the follow up to 2016's 'Ellipsis', which currently has the working title 'Opus 8'.
