Delete Forever is a cut from her new album, 'Miss Anthropocene', which is slated for release on February 21. Unlike the record's previously shared tracks — My Name Is Dark, So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth, Violence, We Appreciate Power and 4ÆM, this song operates on a more vulnerable level, beginning with acoustic guitar and later incorporating beats, banjo and strings.
The notes accompanying the video read:
"It’s about losing friends to the opioid crisis and the self-hatred that arises when the grieving process mimics the behaviors that cost your friends their lives.
The video is a collaboration between Grimes, Mac Boucher and Neil Hansen. It depicts a tyrant’s lament as her empire crumbles."
