Tributes from across the music world have been paid to SOPHIE, who died on Saturday January 30 aged 34.
Her death was an accident, with her record label Transgressive confirming that she passed in the Greek capital of Athens, where she had been living: "True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell."
The Glaswegian DJ, producer, songwriter and singer had an international reputation as one of the most groundbreaking talents in the world of pop and electronic music. She co-wrote and produced for Madonna, Charli XCX, and Vince Staples, to name just a few.
SOPHIE released her debut album, 'Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides', in 2018, and it earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. The year before she had received the Innovator Award at the 2017 AIM Independent Music Awards.
Since the news of SOPHIE's passing, there has been an outpouring of tributes online, with many calling her a visionary, as well as praising her visibility as a trans woman through her art.
