The dark, industrial and political track arrives amid Russian protests over the jailing of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. It was written by Pussy Riot co-founder Nadya Tolokonnikova and Chris Greatti, who co-produced the song with Crazy Demxns.
The track was intended for release later this year along with the Russian art collective's debut album of the same name, but the group decided to drop it early in a call for the release of Navalny and all political prisoners, including Pussy Riot activist Maria Alyokhina, who is currently under house arrest. Tolokonnikova said in a statement:
"Imagine that Trump stayed in the office for the 2nd time and he jailed [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] and her supporters. What’s happening in Russia is outrageous and unacceptable. Putin must go. He’s one insane, sad, lonely, and corrupt man who is dangerous for society."
Head below to view the song's chaotic accompanying video, directed and edited by Tolokonnikova and filmed in February 2020 in St. Petersburg.
In the YouTube description, Pussy Riot wrote: "We demand the release of a Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, Pussy Riot's Masha Alekhina, and all political prisoners, we ask the police to stop beating the protesters and stand together with us, we ask Putin and his team to leave the Kremlin ASAP."
