Crowhurst's Meme serves as the second taster of the BRIT Award winner and Mercury Prize nominee's upcoming fourth album, 'Collections From The Whiteout', due on March 26 via Island Records. He said:
"This song was firstly inspired by a wonky synth guitar part that I had which had a kind of seasick quality to it, which in my head had a tenuous link to the Donald Crowhurst story – the famous tale of the amateur British sailor who died whilst sailing around the world. These two things seemed to marry and so it became a sort of exploration of the undocumented universal side of the story."
Anchored by a shuffling drumbeat, the song's mellow guitar chords and piano keys guide Howard's laidback vocals at a soothing pace. It follows the previously shared What A Day, which arrived with details of the LP in January.
The follow-up to 2018's 'Noonday Dream' was produced by Howard with Yussef Dayes and the National's Aaron Dessner. It'll feature contributions from Kate Stables of This Is The Kit, Big Thief’s James Krivchenia, and Kyle Keegan of Hiss Golden Messenger.
