Family marks the singer-songwriter's first release on independent label Chrysalis Records, and finds the 34-year-old making a stylistic shift more towards pop than her familiar soulful sound.
Penned and recorded in her home during the COVID-19 lockdown, the ascending track unfurls around a sauntering, shuffling beat with layers of sweeping synths and lightly autotuned vocals. It follows collaborations with rap and grime stars Bugzy Malone on Welcome To The Hood and Ghetts on Sonya. She said:
"Family marks a new beginning on many levels for me. It’s an ode to resilience, rebirth, and renewal! It was created last year in my home studio, a time and place in which I felt more creative freedom than ever before. I hope that it uplifts and empowers each listener!"
