Simple Minds Confirm Second Summer Edinburgh Princes Street Gardens Show For UNICEF

Simple Minds have announced a huge summer benefit concert in Edinburgh.
The Scottish pop and rock band will take over Princes Street Gardens for a second night on August 13, in order to raise funds to help children affected by the Ukraine conflict.
They will play their 1982 album 'New Gold Dream' in full, plus hits from throughout their career. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on March 25, with all proceeds going to UNICEF's Ukraine Appeal.
They are already due to play a show at the same venue the night before, which was originally due to be held in 2020, but was twice postponed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The group said:
"We can think of no better way to bring our upcoming UK/European Tour to a climax than performing not one but now two shows at Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh.
"We aim to make the additional show even more special for our fans by playing in full a one-off performance on August 13 of our career landmark 'New Gold Dream'. All profits from that show will go to UNICEF."
UNICEF's appeal website states: "More than 3 million people have now fled Ukraine, with the number expected to climb to 5 million.
"Homes, schools, water supplies and hospitals have been damaged or destroyed. Children have been separated from their families and hundreds of thousands of people have been left without safe water, electricity or water. Explosives including landmines are a daily threat to children’s lives."
Simply Red, Michael Kiwanaka, Travis, and Sir Tom Jones are also set to perform under the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle as part of the Edinburgh Summer Sessions series.
Simple Minds will embark on their rescheduled 40 Years Of Hits Tour later in March.
