Vance Joy Announces Third Album 'In Our Own Sweet Time', Shares New Track Clarity

Vance Joy has announced his third album.
'In Our Own Sweet Time' will arrive on June 10 and feature the previously unveiled singles Missing Piece and Don't Fade, along with the new track Clarity.
Offering a poppy, bassy groove to the acoustic, folk-leaning sound of his earlier material, the new cut also features a thumping, dancy beat and a horn section. It was co-written with Grammy Award-winning songwriter Joel Little over Zoom, and arrives with a video directed by Agueda Sfer. Joy said:
"It's very upbeat and poppy. Dan Wilson says if there is a song you might be a bit shy about because it feels poppy or makes you feel uncomfortable because it’s saying something really directly that’s probably the single. I got that feeling from Clarity. When we finished the song Joel said he could imagine the feel of the production – when he sent it back to me, with the full production, it just exploded. I didn’t see that coming. The original voice memo was me doing mouth trumpet. He even sampled my weak mouth trumpet in the original demo, then that got replaced with the real thing."
Commenting on the record, he added: "I’m always drawn to the idea of timelessness or that shared moment that takes you out of the chaos outside. If the world is crazy, you can retreat somewhere. It’s always hard to think of the right title but I think that sums up the album perfectly."
The Australian singer-songwriter's last full-length release was 2018's 'Nation Of Two', though he's been busy with cover tracks and collaborations since, dropping his own take on The Pogues' Fairytale Of New York and DJ Sammy's Heaven. He also put out a concert film recorded during his Nation Of Two Tour. Most recently, he teamed up with Benny Blanco and Marshmello for the joint single You.
Joy has North American dates in the diary for this spring, including an appearance at Beachlife Festival in Redondo Beach, California on May 14. He also plays London's KOKO on May 22, followed by Australian shows later in the year. Tickets are on sale.
