Pixies have released a new single, Vault Of Heaven.
Taking things into Spaghetti Western territory, the dark, folk-leaning rock track will appear on the Boston legends' upcoming LP, 'Doggerel', which is due out on September 30 via BMG.
Following the previously unveiled cut, There’s A Moon On, the song comes paired with a psychedelic music video directed by Charles Derenne. He said:
"When I first listened to the track, the idea that came to my mind was modern western rock sonorities. It would have been too obvious to shoot a western, so we decided to use the irony of the lyrics and create some sort of psychedelic, outsider story using American icons but showing them in a different way. Zorro leads the dance as the protagonist of the story."
Ahead of the record's release, Pixies will headline End Of The Road festival on September 1, before a run of US dates in October. They'll also resume their Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa Tour in Australia and New Zealand in December.
