Lewis Capaldi has postponed his remaining European tour dates due to illness.
The Scottish singer, 26, took to Twitter to apologise for pulling the shows, revealing that suffering with bronchitis has forced him to cancel concerts in Zurich, Milan, Barcelona and Madrid last week.
He's now confirmed that the rest of the tour has also been postponed, including a show in Stuttgart on Tuesday (March 14) and Munich on Wednesday. He said:
"Hello everybody, it's Lewis Capaldi here. I'm fucking gutted to be making this video and I'm so, so sorry to have to do this but unfortunately, I’m going to have to reschedule the remaining shows on my European tour."
The star goes on to explain that he was sent home by doctors after losing his voice while on stage last week in Stockholm. After receiving medication, he flew back out to Barcelona to perform on Saturday (March 11). He said:
"I got told at the start of this week that I have Bronchitis. I was sent home to Glasgow, I went to another doctor and got medication and inhalers to help. I do feel a bit better and I thought I’d be ok to play the show.
"During soundcheck, my voice was just giving in. To prevent further damage, I’m going to have to take the week to let this die down and let it heal properly, rather than do any permanent damage to it.
"I’m really sorry, I feel like a dick for cancelling, especially tonight, when it’s so close to the show. I don’t know what else to tell you. I wanted to do a video so you knew it was coming from me, and not management. I’m so, so fucking sorry. Hopefully see you all soon."
Capaldi will now play rearranged shows in Milan and Zurich on May 31 and June 28, respectively. Original tickets will remain valid for the new dates, with the rest of the gigs expected to be rescheduled soon.
The North American leg of his Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent World Tour will get underway at the end of March, followed by the Australian and New Zealand shows in July. He also has a string of outdoor UK shows planned for the summer, along with a headline appearance on the main stage at Reading andLeeds in August.
The trek takes its name from his new album, 'Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent', which is due out on May 19. Earlier in March, he also confirmed details of an upcoming Netflix documentary called How I'm Feeling Now.
