Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have announced a new live album.
Titled 'Australian Carnage - Live At The Sydney Opera House', an 18-track digital version will arrive through streaming platforms this Friday (August 25), with an eight-track vinyl edition following on December 1 via Goliath Records.
As the title suggests, it was recorded at the Sydney Opera House in December 2022, during Cave and his Bad Seeds bandmate and frequent collaborator's 16-date Australian tour supporting their 2021 joint album 'Carnage'. Cave said:
"Touring Australia with Warren after so much time away was one of the highlights of recent years. Every show was moving and unforgettable, from the intimacy of playing in theatres and arts centres, to the vast and uplifting nights at Hanging Rock, through to our final three nights at the inimitable Sydney Opera House.
"We are excited to share these recordings, made at the Sydney Opera House, and hope they capture even a tenth of the collective elation we felt at those shows. We’ll never forget them."
Showcasing material from 'Carnage' and select Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds cuts, the shows also featured Radiohead's Colin Greenwood, regular Bad Seed Larry Mullins and backing vocalists Wendi Rose, Janet Ramus and T Jae Cole.
As a teaser ahead of the release, the pair have shared their live rendition of Balcony Man from the album.
