Bombay Bicycle Club Release New Single I Want To Be Your Only Pet

Bombay Bicycle Club have unveiled a new single, I Want To Be Your Only Pet.
The off-kilter and dynamic psych-rock-leaning song is the latest preview of their new album, 'My Big Day', which is out on October 20. Frontman Jack Steadman said:
"I was just playing around with guitar sounds at soundcheck, and started playing this riff. Jamie must have heard something in it because he got out his phone and started recording. For the next few months he would constantly text me to ask “have you written a song around that riff yet?’ So finally I did to stop him harassing me.
“To me it sounds like if Abbey Road era Beatles had a love child with Rated R era Queens of the Stone Age.”
The band have previously shared the record's title track and cut Diving, a duet with Holly Humberstone. The follow-up to 2020’s 'Everything Else Has Gone Wrong' also boasts appearances by Damon Albarn, Jay Som and Nilüfer Yanya.
The four-piece will play a sold-out show at Bristol's Rough Trade Records today (August 24), and in October have lined up a UK record store tour. Following that, they'll embark on a tour of mainland Europe in November. Tickets are on sale now.
Today, they've also announced a surprise set at Reading Festival tomorrow at noon on the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage. It will be the first time the band have played the festival in nine years.
Back at @OfficialRandL for the first time in 9 years. The first time we opened the festival in 2007 the gates hadn’t opened when we went on, so hopefully we’ll see more of you there this time. We can’t wait to see you there tomorrow.
