Bruce Dickinson has shared his first new solo song in 18 years, Afterglow Of Ragnarok.
Anchored by thumping drums underpinned by Roy Z's bruising, heavy guitar riffs, the dramatic track opens the Iron Maiden frontman's upcoming solo album, 'The Mandrake Project', due out on March 1 via BMG.
A companion graphic novel series will tie-in with the record, with the first volume to be released in comic shops on January 17.
Head below to view the song's accompanying Ryan Mackfall-directed short film based around the concept of the comic book, which was penned by Dickinson and Tony Lee with artwork by Staz Johnson. Dickinson commented:
"It was important to set the tone of the project with this track. As befitting its title, it's a heavy song and there's a great big riff driving it… but there's also a real melody in the chorus that displays the light and shade that the rest of the album brings… and just wait until you see the video!"
The 65-year-old, whose last solo record came in the form of 2005's 'Tyranny Of Souls', will support the new project with UK and European tour dates in the spring and summer. He also has a run of solo dates in Mexico and South America scheduled for 2024, with more shows around the world to be confirmed in due course.
Iron Maiden, meanwhile, will take The Future Past Tour to Australia, New Zealand and Japan in September, with a North American leg following in October and November. Tickets are on sale.
