Bruce Dickinson has shared another single from his upcoming solo album.
Following Afterglow Of Ragnarok, Rain On The Graves serves as the second preview of 'The Mandrake Project', which is due out on March 1 via BMG. The first volume of a companion graphic novel series is available in comic shops now.
Inspired by a visit to poet William Wordsworth's grave in the Lake District, the heavy rock track is driven by a chugging metallic guitar riff and incorporates doomy passages along with spoken word parts. Dickinson said:
"I had the chorus lyric since I visited Grasmere for a wedding back in 2012, and it wasn’t difficult years later to create the rest of the song with so much rich imagery in my head!"
Head below to view the song's cinematic video, shot entirely in Cornwall during winter with director Ryan Mackfall.
Dickinson, 65, last released a solo record in 2005 with 'Tyranny Of Souls'. He'll support the new project with a previously confirmed UK and European tour, with a new date added in Wolverhampton on May 16. Tickets for that show go on general sale at 10am on January 31. He also has gigs in Mexico and South America in the diary, with more concerts around the world to be scheduled soon.
Iron Maiden, meanwhile, will take The Future Past Tour to Australia, New Zealand and Japan in September, with a North American leg following in October and November. Tickets are on sale.
