Better Lovers have dropped their first single of 2024.
The hardcore supergroup — ex-Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato, former Every Time I Die members Jordan Buckley, Clayton "Goose" Holyoak and Stephen Micciche, and Fit for an Autopsy guitarist Will Putney — have shared The Flowering ahead of their spring North American tour.
Rife with explosive energy and signature instrumental influences brought by the individual band members, the track comes with a fun Anthony Altamura-directed video, which nods to the horror-comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors. Puciato commented:
"The Flowering is a song we’ve been playing live since day one. It came from the same batch as the 'God Made Me An Animal' EP, so it’s nice to finally have it recorded and out there. It’s a perfect example of how Jordan, Mitch, Goose, and Will playing together sounds like an absolute freight train. Being able to play this live so many times before recording it really amplified that even more, really deepened the groove of it, the music swings so fucking hard.
"Not to mention the video is one of my favourite videos I’ve ever been a part of. The title and lyrics are an obvious metaphor for realizing that we are all more than what we’re conditioned to believe, and acknowledging the collective ‘waking up’ moment that we all seem to be going through right now."
Better Lovers returned to the studio in January, finishing sessions for their anticipated SharpTone Records debut album, with further details expected to be revealed soon. Their debut EP, 'God Made Me An Animal', arrived in July 2023.
They'll play Sick New World festival in Las Vegas later in April, before UK and European shows around a number of festival slots, including Denmark's Roskilde Festival and the UK's 2000trees in July.
Later in the year, they'll return to the US for appearances at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, Furnace Fest in Birmingham, Alabama, and Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California.
