Bloc Party have returned with a new single, Flirting Again.
The punchy, guitar-led indie-rock track fuses elements of pop with summer-ready energy and arrives ahead of the London band's Glastonbury Festival appearance this weekend, as well as their biggest show to date at London's Crystal Palace Park on July 7. Vocalist Kele Okereke said:
"Flirting Again is about being thrust back into the scene and trying to remember how it all works. It's about trying to appear desirable, whilst at the same time hiding the hurt that defines you. We are all carrying around the various scars that we have accumulated over the years, the heartbreaks that have come to shape how we give love and receive love. This song is about picking yourself up and carrying on."
Ahead of their slot on Glastonbury's The Other Stage on Saturday (June 29), they'll play a warm-up date at Birmingham's O2 Institute on Friday (June 28). They also have gigs scheduled at The Telegraph Building, Belfast on July 4 and the 3Arena, Dublin on July 6.
Bloc Party released the 'The High Life' EP in summer 2023, while Okereke put out his latest solo LP, 'The Flames pt. 2', in March of that year. The group's latest album is 2022's 'Alpha Games'.
