Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, has announced a new live EP.
The Brooklyn rapper will debut 'Money Christmas' during a Bandcamp livestream this Sunday (December 15) at 2pm ET/7pm GMT. A description on Bandcamp about the livestream reads, "whatever you think it is… it’s not that." Tickets are now on sale here for $7.99.
According to the website, a replay of the livestream will be available for 48 hours, and the mastered audio tracks of the live EP will be available to download 24-48 hours after the performance, before coming out on vinyl in the coming months.
The new music will mark Bey's first new solo material in five years, following his 2019 - 2020 Negus "listening installation" at the Brooklyn Museum. It also follows the physical release of Bey and Talib Kweli's Black Star Madlib-produced 2022 album 'No Fear of Time' in November. This year also saw him pay tribute to the works of the late hip hop legend MF DOOM on the BEYONDOOM tour.
