Like a musical T1000, the Bee Gee’s are reforming for a series of live shows. One of the biggest acts of the 70’s, best-selling acts of all time and stealthy song-writers (you’d be surprised what songs they’ve written; Chain Reaction, Grease…), the band was devastated by the death of Maurice Gibb in 2003 and vowed not to play as the Bee Gees again.
Barry and Robin, the two remaining members, did perform on stage together in Miami in 2006 however. Then, last Summer, they appeared to be thinking about changing their mind completely. Robin Gibb told the press they made their decision on an emotional level "Whether or not that will change, we don't know. It's a personal thing and we'll do it when the time is right".
That was last Summer and, for reasons obvious to no-one, they recently announced on a BBC Radio Cricket Program that they are finally getting back together. To the massive delight of their fans, the brothers said they would be performing a series of live shows. Robin Gibb said they’ve finally "got through the breakwater of emotions" following Maurice's death.
Once again, the music world can look forward to Barry’s distinctive falsetto shattering spectacles and wine-glasses the world over. Good news for music fans and opticians everywhere.
