Stevie Wonder Tickets for his upcoming Hyde Park Hard Rock Calling show on June 26th are on presale now at Stereoboard.com. Official general sale for all fans starts at 9am on Friday March 26th.
The Motown legend will be celebrating his 60th birthday with the massive outdoor concert in Hyde Park, at the Hard Rock Calling event this June.
The 50,000 capacity show will take place on Saturday 26th June and Jamiroquai, James Morrison and Corinne Bailey Rae have been lined up as support for the gig.
Plans are already underway to encourage the 50,000 strong audience to sing Happy Birthday to the star – even though his birthday is actually six weeks before the gig! There are also rumours that Wonder will play the actual Hard Rock Café itself, the venue where he launched his 2008 tour.
The 22-time Grammy winner now completes the trio of headline acts who have been previously announced to headline the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, three day event. The opening night will see grunge rockers Pearl Jam headline, with Stevie Wonder now confirmed for the Saturday and Sir Paul McCartney topping the bill on Sunday June 27th.
Stevie Wonder’s former partner on the hit “Ebony and Ivory”, Sir Paul McCartney, spoke of his delight at playing the festival on the closing Sunday night. It will be the first time he has headlined a concert in Hyde Park. “My last show of 2009 was in London at the 02 Arena and we had a great night… I hope that this summer we can have an even bigger party in Hyde Park,” Sir Paul said.
Stevie Wonder’s support for the day, Jamiroquai, James Morrison and Corinne Bailey Rae, are three artists who have all been hugely influenced by the star’s music. Commenting on the show, Morrison said: “Stevie is, and always will be, a legend and I'm honoured and excited to be playing with him in Hyde Park, ever since I started listening to him as a kid, he has given me so much musical. It's going to be an amazing day.”
Bailey Rae also said she was very excited to be playing with Stevie Wonder. “I have been lucky enough to watch him play from the side of the stage before and it was amazing… it's a real honour to be chosen to support him.”
Stevie Wonder will play London’s Hyde Park Hard Rock Calling on the following date:
Saturday 26th June 2010
Tickets for the gig are all general admission, and are priced at £50 + booking fees.
