Air Announce One-Off London Show This Summer & Tickets

Daft Punk’s ‘younger brothers’ Air have released details of a one-off show in London’s HMV Forum later this year on July 10th.

Air are a music duo hailing from Versailles, France, consisting of Nicola Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel. The name 'Air' is a backronym for ‘Amour, Imagination, Reve’, which translates to ‘Love, Imagination, Dream’.

Formed in 1995, their synthpop roots include the synthesizer sounds of the 1970s from the likes of Jean Michel, but also contain other influences from psychadelic rock pioneers Pink Floyd. They are perhaps best known for their ambituous 1998 debut album ‘Moon Safari’ and their superb ambient pop songs “Kelly Watch The Stars” and “Sexy Boy”.

Currently enjoying phenomenal success with their innovative style of retro-futuristic electro-pop, the band have released nine albums, including last year’s sixth studio release ‘Love 2’. For the first time in their career, the duo produced the new album themselves, working in splendid isolation in their new hi-tech ‘Atlas Studio’ they had built in northern Paris. Surrounded by a mix of retro synthesisers, vintage vocoders and other assorted gadgets, the duo wrapped their famously haunting vocals around a series of eclectic melodies.

Air are currently on the road promoting their latest album 'Love 2' with a extensive tour around Europe and America. If you were unable to catch them at their UK gig in London back in February, catch them at this one-off show at London’s HMV Forum on Saturday 10th July.

Air will play the following UK date:

July 2010

10th HMV Forum, London
