Jamie Alexander Treays, better known as Jamie T, has announced two shows in Lincoln and Liverpool for June – incidentally just before the Glastonbury Festival!
Could these be warm-up gigs ready for the festival? The Wimbledon singer and songwriter has not yet been officially confirmed to play Glastonbury but there is high speculation that the singer will be performing there, with the confirmation of these shows strengthening the rumours.
The 24 year-old will be joined by his band The Pacemakers at the gigs in Lincoln’s Engine Shed on June 24th and Liverpool’s O2 Academy on June 25th, with the Glastonbury Festival taking place over the weekend of June 25-27th.
Nicknamed the “one man Arctic Monkey”, Jamie T broke into the mainstream after supporting The Ordinary Boys during their 2006 tour. The singer then went on to achieve the grand feat of beating both Jarvis Cocker and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke to win Best Solo Artist at the 2007 Shockwave NME Awards.
After the huge success of his 2007 debut album ‘Panic Prevention’, which was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, his follow-up record ‘Kings & Queens’ was hailed an even bigger success with critics describing the release as “flawless” and “a brilliant, poignant, incredible observational record”.
Jamie T is also set to perform at a variety of festivals this summer, including Scotland’s T In The Park and Ireland’s Oxegen in July.
Jamie T will play the following UK dates:
June 2010
24th Engine Shed, Lincoln
25th O2 Academy, Liverpool
