The trio that is Tom, Rich and Tim, or Keane as they are better known, are hitting the road for a series of UK and Ireland intimate club dates this summer.
Having been catapulted into the music spotlight, the dizzy heights of their fame have done little to daze the band that continues to create some emotive and passionate pop rock.
Hailing from the rural quietness of Sussex, Keane have earned much praise from critics as well as a huge following of fans after the release of their 2002 single, ‘Everything’s Changing’. Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster ride for the trio who’s career has led them to win Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Album, for their debut record ‘Hopes And Fears’, at the 2005 Brit Awards.
Now, having just announced details of some UK and Ireland shows, the band will head out on the road in between their sold-out forest tour. When asked the reason for the low-key gigs, keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley explained: “The forest shows we're playing in June will be big, glorious singalongs, but we wanted to play some more sweaty and intimate gigs along the way.”
Continuing, “We figured out the other day that we haven't played in Birmingham since February 2007. Birmingham was one of the first cities to really embrace Keane - in fact, we think it was the scene of our first sold out show - so it's about time we got back there."
Kicking-off at The Roundhouse in London on June 15th, Keane will also play at Birmingham’s Academy on June 16th, Glasgow’s Barrowlands on June 21st and the Olympia in Dublin on June 23rd.
Keane will play the following UK dates:
June 2010
15th The Roundhouse, London
16th Academy, Birmingham
21st Barrowlands, Glasgow
23rd Olympia, Dublin
Tickets are available from 9am on Friday 16th April.
