1960’s blues-rock supergroup Cream won’t ever reform, that’s according to bassist Jack Bruce.
Materializing through the coming together of three of Britain’s top R&B musicians, Cream were a superb blues rock band that became the blueprint which many new artists followed. Dropping three albums in a hectic eighteen months, Cream split-up in 1968 with iconic guitarist Eric Clapton going on to create a solo career packed full of success.
Reforming briefly in 2005 for a series of special shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Cream’s music was heard live once again onstage by a lucky few ecstatic, ageing fans. Since then, the army of Cream followers have been hopeful of a full tour being arranged by the band, however bass player Jack Bruce has revealed he is refusing to join up again.
The Scottish born musician spoke to BBC 6Music stating that the supergroup is finished. "There’s a new story now. Cream is over" he said. “I'm now doing something very exciting, so much so I can't even talk about it. It's the most exciting project I've ever been involved in."
In 2009 Eric Clapton claimed that he would not be planning a full tour with his fellow ex-Cream band members, although he did say that the trio were still on good terms with each other. "I think I was clear that I don't think we need to go there again... I think we've gone as far as we could with that."
The guitarist continued, "I think there might be a chance of some more (gigs). I would like to do some more 'cause I enjoyed it. It was very emotional. I would like another shot at it."
