The alternative rock legends Pixies have announced that they will play two UK shows in early June.
The Pixies reformed back in 2004 and fans were ecstatic that the indie-rock behemoths were back for good. With their pioneering grunge sound they remain an inspiration to hundreds of modern-day bands.
Since reuniting the group have toured excessively, including last year’s tour that saw the band play their classic album ‘Doolittle’ in its entirety at a series of special shows.
Pixies continue to announce the new dates with an email being sent out to their fan mailing-list on Monday April 19th. With both performances confirmed to take place at East London’s intimate Troxy venue, the shows will mark the band’s first return to UK soil since their ‘Doolittle’ album tour in late 2009.
In other Pixies related news, frontman Frank Black is currently on tour in support of his new record ‘NonStopErotik’ which was released here on April 6th.
As to whether there will be more shows scheduled by the Pixies, speaking on their official site, Pixies wrote: “Especially for you, two special shows”, before adding that they would be “the first of many” dates.
