Veterans Rockers The Rolling Stones are expected to claim the UK Album Chart’s Number One spot once again, if the early mid-week figures are of any indication.
A blend of blues and country created ‘Exile On Main Street’ in 1972 and the album captures the Rolling Stones addictive sleaze sound perfectly. Almost forty years since the album release, the tracks still hold their sense of mystery today.
Probably one of the band’s most popular releases, the album has recently been re-issued as an expanded edition and is proving to be very popular amongst fans. With the mid-week figures indicating the album is selling well, it seems as though the Stones are to return to the top of the charts for the first time since 1994.
Facing some strong competition, The Stones are battling for the top spot with the likes of Faithless and LCD Soundsystem, two acts who weren’t even born during the emergence of The Rolling Stones.
Faithless return with their highly anticipated album ‘The Dance’ with less than 1000 sales separating them from Mick, Keith and co. As with LCD Soundsystem, who’s new album ‘Is This Happening’ set to be their final release, have recorded strong first day sales.
However, with the new issue of ‘Exile On Main Street’ being made available on so many different formats, the Stones should have enough force to nick the pole position.
