Snow Patrol Working On New Album

Northern Ireland’s number one indie export Snow Patrol have revealed that they will be starting work on a brand new album this autumn with a sixth studio album expected in 2011.

Their 2008 album ‘A Hundred Million Suns’ established Snow Patrol as one of the UK’s most successful bands. Not only had the band reinforced themselves as one of the biggest groups in the UK, the group cracked the stateside charts with the album entering the Billboard countdown within the Top Ten. In 2009 they released their compilation album ‘Up to Now’.

With this weekend’s Snow Patrol open-air concert at Bellahouston Park only a few days away, speaking to Scottish newspaper the Daily Record, drummer Jonny Quinn said the new album will take the band in a “new direction”.

When asked about the release date for the new record Quinn told the newspaper, ""Definitely next year, at what point we don't know. It will be after February and before July. We're going to record new material in October".

Recently taking a break from the band, seemingly unable to escape the draw of recording new music, singer Gary Lightbody has teamed up with REM’s Peter Buck for an exciting new project entitled Tired Pony. The band releases an album ‘The Place We Ran From’ on 12th July which contains contributions from the likes of Tom Smith of Editors fame, the album was recorded in just one week back in January.

Tired Pony are set to follow up their album release with some rare live shows across the UK.
