Metal giants Slipknot are refusing to discuss their future as a band after rumours spread that the band could be splitting.
Regarded as one of the biggest bands in metal, Slipknot’s ear-splitting sound and extreme image have captivated millions of fans across the world. Forming in the 1990’s, sad news recently shook the band as well as its fans when co-founder and bassist Paul Gray was discovered dead in his hotel room having died from a drugs overdose in May.
The tragic blow led to rumours across the metal community that the band were set to split, however speaking in a new interview with Sonisphere Festival, guitarist Jim Root revealed that Slipknot are not even thinking of their future right now.
Stating that the Slipknot’s future was "the furthest thing from our mind", Root went on to explain that the band are going through a period of mourning. "There's going to be a big healing process that needs to happen before we even think about whether or not Slipknot will continue.".
Stating that it could be “two years at least” until Slipknot can piece themselves back together, Root continued to explain the band’s current sense of feeling. "Right now we are just grieving or trying to find time to grieve anyway for the fact that our bro's gone. It's weird because some days I don't even think it's real, so that one's not going to make sense for a while."
In other news concerning Slipknot, frontman Corey Taylor is currently making preparations for the release of a new Stone Sour record. Accompanied by some of the guys from Slipknot, Stone Sour are expected to release ‘Audio Secrecy’ on 6th September.
