Jose James is an American modern jazz and hip-hop singer-songwriter and musician from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After attending the The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he released his debut album, ‘The Dreamer’, in 2008. His second record, ‘Blackmagic’, came out in 2010, followed by ‘No Beginning No End’ in 2013, ‘While You Were Sleeping’, in 2014, and ‘Yesterday I Had the Blues: The Music of Billie Holiday’ in 2015. He has also released a collaboration with Jef Neve, entitled ‘For All We Know’, in 2010, which won the Edison Award and the L'Académie du Jazz Grand Prix Vocal Jazz Album of 2010. He released his latest album of new material, ‘Love in a Time of Madness’, in 2017, and re-issued a 10th anniversary edition of 'the Dreamer' in March 2018.
