Magma are a 14-piece avant-garde art-rock band from Paris, France.
Formed in 1969, they are regarded as one of the most unique rock bands of all time, with frontman and founder Vander writing and performing the majority of his lyrics in his own fictional language, Kobaïan. They released their debut self-titled album in 1970 (later reissued under the title 'Kobaïan'), and have since expanded their discography to include a total of 15 studio records, 15 live albums, three EPs and nine compilations. Their most recent serving came in the shape of 2019's 'Zëss'. The band split shortly after the release of 1984's 'Merci', but reformed in 1996 and have been touring and recording ever since.
