Rock In Rio first started in Rio de Janeiro back in 1985 with performances by Queen, George Benson, Rod Stewart, Yes, and AC/DC. Since then, it has evolved into one of the world's biggest festivals, taking place every two years in RDJ and alternating with a sister festival in Lisbon, Portugal.
Steeped in history, with its own festival anthem, legendary fireworks displays and a list of past performers that reads like a who's who of modern music's biggest names, Rock In Rio is truly one of the giants of the festival world. Bringing the sounds of global music icons from multiple genres to the country, Rock in Rio has seen performances by System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Slipknot, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, and Maroon 5, showcasing the diversity fans get.
