Shining are a Norwegian avant-garde music outfit hailing from Oslo. Formed in 1999, the band has seen many lineup changes, with frontman Jørgen Munkeby as the only consistent member. Currently the band also includes Håkon Sagen, Tobias Ørnes Andersen, Eirik Tovsrud Knutsen, and Ole Vistnes.
Known for their experimental prog-rock/jazz fusion style, the group has more recently been experimenting with a more extreme, metal approach. They have released seven albums: ‘Where The Ragged People Go’ in 2001, ‘Sweet Shanghai Devil’ in 2003, in 2005, ‘In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster,’ followed by, ‘Grindstone’ in 2007, ‘Blackjazz’ in 2010, and ‘One One One’ in 2013. The band’s latest release is ‘International Blackjazz Society’ released in 2015. The band play a short run of shows this November 2015.
