Southampton Football Club are based in Hampshire, England. The club was formed in 1885 by members of the St. Mary's Church, with their church-based roots still a big part of the club's identity, as evidenced by their nickname "The Saints".

The club's home, St. Mary's stadium, is a stone's throw from St Mary's Church, where the club was founded. Up until 2001, the club played their home matches at The Dell for 103 years.

They play in red and white shirts, and they play The South Coast Derby with their fierce nearby rivals, Portsmouth Football Club. The South Coast derbies are also referred to as the Hampshire Derby.

Southampton have won one major trophy in their history; winning the FA Cup in 1976.
