Our Band Of The Week, is a feature designed to promote the wonderful unsigned and indie label talent on offer in the UK right now.
Spring Offensive are this week’s Band of the Week. A very talented 5 Piece from Oxford, who can fall rather nicely into the alternative-indie category, but do not for one minute imagine that their music is categorised that easily. Indeed, the group play a very diverse and unique array of music, all functioning to progress the meaning of the groups wonderful, creative lyrics.
The group are a compelling listen, who base their tracks around such topics as eating the contents of one's wallet and the 5 cycles of grief. Pretty unique stuff, I'm sure you will agree. They achieve all of this while still retaining melody and quality in their music, with their blazing drums, heavy riffs and deep, growling bass.
Spring Offensive are Lucas Whitworth, lead vocals, Matt Cooper, Guitar and vocals, Theo Whitworth, guitar and vocals, Joe Charlett, Bass and Pelham Groom, Drums and vocals.
The group are regulars on the Oxford gig circuit and have just completed a UK tour, bringing their music to wider audiences. The groups debut album, Pull Us Apart is an intriguing listen and their latest single, The First Of Many Dreams About Monsters, released for download on August 20th, is almost 14 minutes of epic, genre bending music, with lyrics that defy belief.
Radio 1's Huw Stephens has already named Spring Offensive as his tip of the week and they have also featured on this years Radiohead tribute, Round The Bends.
Spring Offensive are certainly not a group shy of putting the hours in. They are very active, both in writing new material and in the number of live shows they play. Their UK tour was well received across the country and their diary is full with live dates across the South of England.
