Shaun Ryder To Collaborate With Stacy Solomon For Christmas Track

Fresh out of the jungle, Shaun Ryder is said to be teaming up with fellow ‘I’m a Celebrity’ contest Stacy Solomon for a possible cover of The Pogue’s No.2 hit ‘Fairytale of New York’, which could make a last-gasp entry into the Christmas charts.
The pair, who finished in 1st and 2nd place on the ITV reality show, seem an unlikely partnership, especially for a Christmas-y duet – but the 48 year old confirmed the story himself, saying “We’re thinking Fairytale of New York. We probably shouldn’t as the original is so good. But you can’t help meddling.”
If the pair are serious about a challenge for the Christmas top spot, they have until Monday to choose a track, arrange it, record it AND release it – a bit of a push at best.
And not much can be said for originality either, as if they do manage to get the song completed by the Monday deadline, they will be one of three cover tracks up for the Christmas No. 1 position – the other two being anti-X-factor release ‘Cage Against the Machine’, a cover of John Cage’s ‘4’33’, and their rival X-Factor winner Matt Cardle’s cover of Biffy Clyro’s ‘Many of Horror’. Should ‘Cage Against the Machine’ take the spot, it will be the second anti-X-factor release to win Christmas No.1 in a row, after Rage’s ‘Killing in the Name Of’ took the spot last Christmas.
