Jon Fratelli Marks Completion of Debut Solo Album with Gig Announcement

Jon Fratelli, frontman of Glasgow rockers the Fratellis, is to play a gig at Edinburgh HMV Picture House on 12th February as part of HMV’s Next Big Thing. At the show, Fratelli will be unveiling new material from his forthcoming debut solo album, which he has recently finished recording. Jon will be joined by drummer and former bandmate Mince Fratelli at the gig and support will come from Essex-based five-piece Morning Parade, who were recently named as one of Stereoboard’s Top Tips for 2011.

Jon parted ways with the Fratellis in 2009 following the release of their second album ‘Here We Stand’, although he has always insisted that the move was the beginning of a hiatus rather than a split. After leaving the Fratellis, he began working on a brief project as one half of duo the Codeine Velvet Club with singer-songwriter Lou Hickey. However, after just one album, Fratelli left the group to pursue a solo career.

Fratelli recently released the first song from his debut album as a free download through his website. The track is entitled ‘Rhythm Doesn’t Make You a Dancer’. Of the album, Fratelli said: “I've made an album that's a mesh of everything that's ever excited me about rock’n’roll. I'm desperate to get out and play these songs for people.”
