Stereophonics have revealed that they are currently recording their eighth studio album in Europe, teasing fans by stating that the new material is “a bit different”.
The Welsh group rose to fame by embracing their Welsh roots, writing material about life in their hometown of Cwmaman and singing about their formative years in the country’s various establishments, but the band have hinted that their upcoming release may have a more international feel about it.
Speaking at the London premiere of AC/DC’s ‘Live at River Plate’ DVD (Which was reviewed by Stereoboard’s Jon Stickler yesterday), frontman Kelly Jones discussed the album with BANG Showbiz. He said: “The album is really good so far. We've been in the studio for a few weeks and we're off to Europe next week to do some more recording. The style is a bit different, we're doing some stuff for films so you'll have to wait and see."
The singer went on to discuss AC/DC’s impressive musical career, declaring that he finds it "fucking unbelievable" that the band are "still kicking every young band up the ass", even after so long.
He continued: "They keep themselves to themselves and they keep all the bullshit for the stage, unlike 90 percent of the industry. For a band to be doing that for as long as they've been doing it and still kicking every young band up the ass is fucking unbelievable. They are one of my favourite bands I've ever seen since I was a kid. I'm the biggest AC/DC fan in the country."
