Gary Nock - Make it Better (Single Review)

It may be known by most as 'the mars advert song', but 'Make it Better' is so much more than just an ad backing track. This three and a half minute acoustic beauty is warming, original and just 100% adorable.

ImageWith some likeness to Joshua Radin or the Maccabees Orlando Weeks, Gary Nock's vocals are completely flawless. Although there are a few artists which I could compare or relate Nock to, there is no one who has his style or sound. He manages to create this cutesy, warm, catchy song, without sounding dreary or unoriginal, which nowadays, we have to admit, is pretty difficult to do, and is also pretty difficult to avoid every time you turn on the radio.

It's a joy to hear a new, original, fun artist making happy, real songs. No auto tune rubbish, no over the top vocals or cliche lyrics, just a completely fresh sounding, lovely song.

This song has everything you'd need for a good day enjoying the sun with the people you love most; whistling and clapping along. It's a real 'bringing people together' song and you can quite clearly tell that Nock is all about the optimism, which again, is so difficult to find in songs nowadays. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is fed up of hearing about how someone gets excited over 'whips and chains' or how 'that badonka donk is like a trunk full of bass on an old school Chevy' (whatever that even means) 'I don't belong on this planet but for the moment this is where I am so no point in wasting this vacation, I wanna see all I can.'

I'd rather hear how someone's trying to make the most of everything and is also making other people happy in the process. Why can't we hear more songs like this?

Gary Nock is a real role model and an inspiration, who deserves all of the attention and credit which he's getting for this song.

So be sure to listen to the full song on youtube, spotify, or even better, download it!
