Noel Gallagher revealed his plans for his solo career earlier today, unveiling what will be his first releases since Oasis split in 2009.
In a press conference held in London, Noel revealed that he will be releasing album ‘High Flying Birds’ and co-produced by David Sardy, recorded with his new band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, on October 17th. With interest in Noel’s first endeavour since his split with brother Liam extremely high, different names and dates have been flying around the internet this afternoon – with some saying the album will be called ‘Stop the Clocks’, and others saying that the LP will see a release two dates later on the 19th.
But Stereoboard can confirm that Noel is already planning a second LP with psychedelic rockers Amorphous Androgynous, whom Noel has a previous history with. This second album will act as a sister album to the original ‘High Flying Birds’ recordings, but will most likely see release in 2012.
Rumours of an incoming Noel Gallagher album were high as the singer and guitarist had been spotted in LA studios in the months prior to this press conference. Now, Noel has spoken about the tracks he’d been recording in the sunny States of America.
“There isn't a guitar solo on it till the 6th track,” said the Mancunian. “It's not fucking guitar hero. Some of it’s vaudeville, some of it's space jazz, some of it’s kraut rock. And that's just the first track."
Then, in usual Gallagher fashion, he went on to mention brother Liam who he has an on-going feud with.
"Am I better off without Liam? Probably not. I've never seen myself as a frontman & I can see it being a right pain in the arse."
There was also talk of a possible tour with his High Flying Birds band this autumn – though he did admit he’d have trouble “playing the track What a Life because it's dance music. And I'm 44.” Stereoboard will keep you up-to-date with any Noel Gallagher live dates in future.
