Pete Doherty Freed From Jail - Will He Walk Right Back In?

The mischievous Pete Doherty was freed from prison today – only to walk into possible fresh prison sentence for the breaking and entering of a record shop in Germany earlier this year.
The Babyshambles frontman was jailed on May 20th earlier this year after being found in possession of the class A drug cocaine. With over 20 drug offences to his name, Doherty was prison for six months – only to be let out a month earlier than expected and four months before his full sentence would have finished. But, as previously reported by Stereoboard, Pete could find himself back in the slammer after he was seen at the scene of a burglary in Regensburg, Germany.
The singer and guitarist has already admitted to police that he did, in fact, smash the window to the musical marketplace when the crime took place, but denied stealing anything. He claims to have been too drunk to remember anything else that happened that night – an excuse we have all used at some point in our lives. The owner’s of the shop that fell victim to Pete and his mates failed to see the funny side, though, and are hoping to press charges which could land Pete in jail for up to five years if he is found guilty.
The reckless star was in the country to film his re-telling of Alfred de Musset's The Confession of a Child of the Century, and one night ended up on the lash with his mates who were later seen standing outside the aforementioned shop. One thing led to another and a guitar, as well as records, was stolen from the place. Musicians stealing musical instruments and music may seem like an odd idea but it could potentially end Doherty’s role in the Libertines, who have split countless times over Doherty’s drug abuse and general attitude. It is also not the first time Doherty has been jailed for burglary – he also broke into Libertines pal Carl Barât flat on the night of Babyshamble’s first gig.
There’s an old saying that goes with this – if you can’t do the time, stop getting caught with drugs and burgling places.
