American indie-pop band The Drums have announced a series of London dates to showcase their new 'Portamento' album.
Originally formed in Florida, The Drums are now based in New York City and cite their major influences as The Wake, The Smiths, Joy Division, The Tough Alliance, The Legends, The Shangri-las, The Embassy, and Orange Juice. The band have also admitted that reverb in general has played a major role in their sound: "...If reverb didn't exist we wouldn't have bothered trying to start a band.”
The Drums released their self-titled debut album early in 2010 where it achieved a Top Twenty place in the UK Album Chart. The Drums will be looking to better their efforts with their 2011 follow-up 'Portamento', which they will showcase at a trio of London dates in September.
