10 years ago – or thereabouts – two bands from across the pond burst into the punk scene with their own brand of catchy pop melodies that would add a new, slightly more light-hearted angle to the world of alternative rock. While many people may have criticised them for making a mockery of punk rock and maybe even pushing it past the boundary of cheesy pop, others were having far too much fun to care.

New Found Glory from Florida, USA exploded into the rock charts with infinitely infectious pop-punk singles like ‘Hit or Miss’ and ‘My Friends Over You’. The other, known as Sum 41 from Canada, were even more successful – reaching the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart with their hit ‘Fat Lip’. Following just a few short steps behind fellow pop-punkers Blink-182, both bands began paving the way for the great pop-punk boom, which has since brought us the likes of Paramore and You Me At Six.

Now, several years on, both bands have finally come together to co-headline the upcoming Kerrang! Tour, which will hit our shores in February next year. With such an awesome line-up to boast about, the tour is already looking set to be one of the most impressive of 2012.

When New Found Glory head our way early next year for the Kerrang! Tour, it’s undoubted that they’ll be looking to introduce their British and Irish fans to their new album. ‘Radiosurgery’, the band’s seventh to date, is due for release next month and is already beginning to gather some highly-praising reviews. This, along with the reception to their performances at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals, is likely to make New Found Glory one of the most anticipated acts on the forthcoming tour. With seven albums’ and 12 years’ worth of crowd favourites to choose from, the band are unlikely to struggle when choosing their set list.

Earlier this year, Canadian punkers Sum 41 returned from a four-year break to release their fifth album ‘Screaming Bloody Murder’. Judging by the response to the album upon its release, when it reached Number 5 in the UK Rock Albums chart, it’s clear that it was a welcome comeback amongst fans. However, when Sum 41 join the Kerrang! Tour in February, it’ll be old favourites like ‘Fat Lip’, ‘In Too Deep’ and ‘Still Waiting’ that are bound to become highlights of the tour.

With two killer acts topping the bill for just one tour, who could ask for more? Well, whether you’re asking or not, more is what you’ve got, because next up are LA hardcore quintet Letlive. Anyone who caught this band at one of their explosive sets at Download or Reading and Leeds this year will already know exactly what to expect. The onstage antics of the band’s frontman Jason Aalon Butler are something that demands to be witnessed. There’s a damn good reason why he was recently included in Kerrang! Magazine’s list of the Top 50 Greatest Rock Stars in the World Today – believe us.

Sheffield newcomers While She Sleeps will be completing the line-up to show us why they are one of the bands to watch out for in 2012. So there it is – the Kerrang! Tour 2012 in all its glory. What’s left to be said? Miss it… miss out. It’s that simple.
