In support at the MTV shows, one of music’s hottest new names, Lana Del Rey is a true internet sensation. Since exploding onto the music scene with her home-made track and video, ‘Video Games’, which entered the UK charts at Number Nine in October, she has won universal acclaim throughout the UK music press and has firmly established herself as one of music’s brightest new stars. She will be performing songs from her debut album, due for release in the same week.
Also performing on Tuesday night is the hugely talented Charli XCX. Having already supported the likes of Peaches and Robyn and played at notable festivals like Bestival, Charli is one of the most exciting new artists on the scene.
The next day will see a performance from Emeli Sandé, one of the most exciting new UK music talents. An in demand songwriter, having penned hit tracks for the likes of Tinie Tempah, Professor Green and Cheryl Cole, Emeli also featured on Professor Green’s Number One single ‘Read All About It’ as well as Chipmunk’s debut top ten track ‘Diamond Rings’. Following the release of debut single ‘Heaven’ which entered the UK charts at Number Two, her much talked about solo record ‘Our Version of Events’ is set to be released on 13th February. She is currently on tour with Coldplay.
Supporting her will be hotly tipped MTV Brand New for 2012 nominee Delilah. Having already scored hits through collaborations with Chase and Status and her first solo single, ‘Go’, the stunning songstress has caused a huge stir since arriving on the scene earlier this year.
Another nominee will support Emeli Sandé alongside Delilah - announcement is soon to follow. For more details, please visit www.mtv.co.uk/news/brand-new-for-2012.
