Record producer and songwriter Mark Ronson has revealed that it was the death of close friend and collaborator Amy Winehouse that prematurely ended his work with Beth Ditto's Gossip.
The band released their fifth album 'A Joyful Noise' yesterday, and had originally worked on the record with Mark Ronson. But, following Winehouse's death, Ronson was unable to continue working with the group – because he realised the spark he had with the late star overshadowed what he had with Gossip.
“It was really strange,” Ronson told MTV. “It was almost like a turning point. When I found out that Amy passed I was in disbelief. I walked out of the session and I never fully came back... I think the main thing, the chemistry of what we had going on with the Gossip album wasn't really amazing and being reminded about how good it is when it's good, maybe I thought I was forcing something.”
You can catch Gossip performing some of their new material at one of two London shows they've lined-up this summer. If you need tickets, check the dates and details below.
