Coldplay have shared two new tracks.
Daddy and Champion Of The World are the latest to be lifted from their new double album, 'Everyday Life', which is due out on November 22.
The former is a moving, piano-led song which arrives with an animated video by Aardman Animations that's directed by Åsa Lucander. He said:
“I knew when I had the opportunity to pitch on this project that is was going to be a very special one. A few minutes into listening to the track ‘Daddy’ – It spoke to me in a way that stories and visual images began to dance in front of me. And when this happens you know that you are on to something very special indeed. I tend to get drawn to emotional stories and this was certainly one I wanted to tell.”
The latter, meanwhile, is an expansive indie-rock number that gives a co-writing credit to the late Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit, who penned Owl John’s Los Angeles Be Kind. Frontman Chris Martin explained:
"Scott had a song called ‘Los Angeles Be Kind,’ which I love. When I first heard it, I thought it was going to go one way; but it went another. Anyway ‘Champion Of The World’ is the song that came from following the other path, and that’s why Scott is a co-writer on this song. Today is also his birthday. So happy birthday Scott and thank you for your beautiful music, wherever you are."
Coldplay will perform at the Natural History Museum on November 25. Head here for details on how to get tickets.
The band will also celebrate the new record's release by streaming a live performance from Amman, Jordan the same day it comes out. The shows will be split just like the record, with the 'Sunrise' set beginning at 4am GMT and the 'Sunset' at 2pm GMT.
Coldplay Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows
