The Flaming Lips Release Surprise Track Flowers Of Neptune 6

Friday, 29 May 2020 Written by Spencer Lawes

The Flaming Lips have released a surprise new track and video, Flowers of Neptune 6.

This seemingly one-off release has a more stripped-back, low-key feel than a lot of the psych-rock legends' music, but the dreamy vibes ensure it will nestle comfortably in their impressive discography.

The accompanying video features Wayne Coyne strolling around an empty, burning prairie in a zorb, in what is perhaps a nod towards our current situation as he would usually be zorbing across the open palms of crowds at live shows.

Coyne’s zorbing isn’t the only thing the Covid-19 pandemic has affected for the band, as they were due to headline this year's Womad UK before the festival was cancelled due to the crisis.
