Black Parade is the first new music to emerge from the superstar vocalist under her own steam since 2019's ’The Lion King: The Gift’, a supplement to the official soundtrack that accompanies Disney’s live action version of The Lion King.
The track was released alongside a directory of black owned businesses being posted on the singer's website on Juneteenth — an annual celebration on June 19 of the emancipation of slaves in the United States. A statement on Beyoncé's website reads:
Happy Juneteenth.
Being Black is your activism.
Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right.
"Black Parade" benefits BeyGOOD's Black Business Impact Fund,
administered by the National Urban League,
to support Black-owned small businesses in need.
Earlier this year, Beyoncé appeared on a remix of Megan Thee Stallion's Savage. Head here to check it out.
