The Doors' fifth studio album is to be reissued to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The double CD/LP deluxe edition of 'Morrison Hotel', which first arrived in 1970, will see a release via Rhino Records on October 9. It'll contain the original record newly remastered by the band's longtime engineer and mixer Bruce Botnick, as well as over 60 minutes of unreleased studio outtakes. Botnick said:
"There are many takes, different arrangements, false starts, and insightful studio conversations between the band and producer Paul Rothchild who was in the control room. It’s like being a fly on the wall."
As a preview, previously unreleased takes of Peace Frog and Blue Sunday have been shared. Check them out below.
Alongside the reissue, a biographical comic book titled Morrison Hotel will be published by Z2 Comics. The graphic novel adaptation will be a collaboration between writer Leah Moore, daughter of comics legend Alan Moore, and surviving band members guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore.
