Ġenn have dropped details of a new EP.
'Liminal' will arrive on March 30 via the London independent label Everything Sucks Music and feature the newly shared single 23rd March. The track fuses garage rock and alternative post-punk with a frenzied riot grrrl spirit. Discussing it, vocalist Leona Farrugia said:
"When I was writing this song's lyrics, I was thinking about the current political situation… with Covid, Brexit, BLM...The chorus is written in the style of a Maltese expression.... In Malta, when someone is seen as evil, there's a tendency to say that you're gonna pray for someone's soul since this particular person needs your prayers to be saved… Very biblical :p"
The Malta band, now based in Brighton, is completed by guitarist Janelle Borg, bass player Leanne Zammit and drummer Sofia Rosa Cooper. They put out their debut album, 'Titty Monster', in 2018.
They'll play a socially distanced show at the Windmill in Brixton, London on December 12 with Lemondaze, Jemma Freeman and the Cosmic Something. Tickets are on sale.
