Kele Okereke is back with a new single, The Heart Of The Wave.
The serene instrumental builds around a dreamy looping guitar melody and arrives via the Bloc Party frontman's own label, KOLA Records / !K7. It comes accompanied by a video shot by director Jack Chute on the coastline of Margate. Okereke said:
"The Heart Of The Wave started quite absent mindedly. During lockdown I was spending a lot of time playing electric guitar in my room and I found on some of the bleakest days making the swirling guitar loops calmed me down. It was almost like a kind of therapy for me."
It marks the first song released by Okereke since writing the soundtrack for the 2019 musical Leave To Remain and his '2042' album released in the same year.
Bloc Party, meanwhile, are currently working on their sixth studio album, though a title and release date is still to be revealed.
