Coldplay will open this year's Brit Awards.
The band will kick off the event at the O2 Arena in London on May 11, performing on a pontoon on the River Thames next to the venue. Also newly announced as a performer for the awards show is The Weeknd.
The ceremony will be part of the Government's scientific Events Research Programme relating to COVID-19, looking at using enhanced testing to examine how events can take place without restrictions. The audience will comprise frontline workers, with 2500 tickets offered via a ballot. Attendees won't be required to wear masks or socially distance, but they will have to provide proof they've tested negative for COVID-19.
Other artists set to perform throughout the course of the evening include Arlo Parks, Dua Lipa, Griff, Headie One, and Rag'n'Bone Man and P!nk with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.
The nominations have already been revealed — check them out here. Comedian Jack Whitehall will return as the host. You'll be able to view the ceremony on May 11 at 8pm BST | 3pm EDT | 12pm PDT on ITV, ITV Hub and YouTube.com/BRITs.
Coldplay took to social media on April 29 to confirm details of their new single, Higher Power, which will be released on May 7 via Parlophone/Atlantic Records.
